The NEXT Bible study environment is made available free of charge for your
use - but the program, look and feel, interface, features, and all reference
files included are copyrighted by bible.org
(2006). It may not be cloned or copied without permission. The NeXt Bible includes
the NET Bible, which is copyrighted by Biblical Studies Press. For fair use
details, general permissions and the appropriate copyright and author acknowledgment
details, consult www.bible.org/netbiblecopyright.

In general, we encourage you to use and quote the NET Bible and the included references in your studies, teaching, and publications. For teaching, Church and charity work and other non-commercial uses the use is royalty free and painless. In more and more commercial uses too, quoting the NET Bible or other NeXt Bible resources will often be royalty free as well but full details are available from www.bible.org/permissions.
The NET Bible is used globally by over 30 million people and was developed over a 10 year period with the primary goal of being a faithful translation of the original texts of the Bible. The 60,932 Translators’ notes underscore our desire to be transparent and give as much insight as possible into the true meaning of the Biblical texts.

We also believe that the teachings of the Bible apply to Bible publishers as well as Bible readers. Lev 23:22, 2 Cor 2:17, and 1 Tim 5:18 are key passages in this area. Our general philosophy is called “ministry first” where we believe that Believers worldwide are required to jump through too many hoops just to obtain permission to quote the Bible and teach others from it. And we also believe that Bible study resources are too costly for the majority people on earth. All told there are less than 3 million copies of Bible study programs in use globally. Our initial goal for the NeXt Bible project was to:

  1. Be more powerful and easier to use than any Bible study software
  2. Be free for everyone
  3. Have more users in the first 180 days than all commercial Bible study software combined
